Non-Destructive Testing

NDT is used in a variety of settings that covers a wide range of industrial activity, with new NDT methods and applications, being continuously developed. Nondestructive testing methods are routinely applied in industries where a failure of a component would cause significant hazard or economic loss, such as in transportation, pressure vessels, building structures, piping, and hoisting equipment.

FPI  Fluorescent Penetrant Testing

Fluorescent penetrant testing is a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective method for detecting surface flaws of welds, castings, and other components that cannot be destroyed.  This method is performed on parts made from ferrous and non-ferrous alloys to identify and examine surface flaws on the parts.   Fluorescent dyes are used to locate flaws in the parts being inspected which when viewed with the aid of a black (ultraviolet) light will be visible to varying degrees.  Water wash and post-emulsification systems are used depending on customer requirements.  In addition to checking for defects and cracks, it can also be used to determine other surface characteristics, such as porosity.
